NEEC FCT founded in 1997, is a student group made up of about 35 students of Electrical and Computer Engineering, whose objective is to carry out internal projects in the areas of IT, electronics, and digital systems, as well as plan both internal and external events. The student group carries out various activities of interest to students, such as lectures, workshops and visits to companies. It is also responsible for organizing and promoting the Technological Conferences of Electrotechnics (JorTec Eletrotécnica).
NEEC has been using the Blocks One printer since December 2021, offered by Blocks, and emerged from the need to print parts for our projects, and also as a way to introduce our members to 3D printing and its utilities.
Essentially, NEEC prints parts for its projects, whether they are parts that serve as a wrapping box for electronic material, or the mechanics of the project. Additionally, the members can also print pieces for personal use, as well as decoration and utility items for the NEEC space, such as the coin box for the coffee payment.
Even though the student group is not a business, we believe that the printer has brought us much-improved ease and speed in obtaining parts, as well as their quality. The NEEC previously used a laboratory located at the FCT, but it made our logistics a little difficult. Members can now have their parts available for work in a short time, using an intuitive printer.
